Born and raised in Queenstown, New Zealand, I have grown up with an adventurous background. From 21 years of experiencing winter, I have been influenced by the spirit and beauty snow brings to the small resort. As a skier myself, I have become increasingly fascinated by the effect Winter can have on the colours, textures and overall mood on and off the mountain. As a textile project, I decided to convey this beauty in a room decoration. The photographs were taken in Queenstown from my home and up the mountain. I screen printed a Henna-like pattern I designed that incorporates subtle symbols of the town, such as a jade pendant, the lake and mountain. The décor is intended to hang by a window, where the sun will shine through the fabric.
